Old Premium Rare Topaque
Wine
Morris Old Premium Rare Topaque is a perfect example of an aged Topaque. Released in tiny quantities, it is made from Rutherglen grapes grown on the estate Mia Mia Vineyards.
Considered the lighter, finer cousin of Muscat, Topaque is produced from Muscadelle, a white wine grape. The grapes are left to hang on the vine as long as possible to concentrate their sugars and flavours.
Once picked, they are crushed and partially fermented before being fortified with a strong neutral spirit. The wine matures in oak casks over many years. The final blend is a balance of very old and younger wines.
Classified Rare – the highest tier of the official Rutherglen Winemakers' Classification – the wine contains the richest and most complete wines in the winery's cellar. Their average age is at least 20 years.
Deep golden brown, Morris Old Premium Rare Topaque is rich and viscous, with concentrated Christmas cake flavours and a long, persistent finish.
One of Australia’s classic wines. Already fully matured, it is bottled for immediate enjoyment.
